Majid Baradaran Shoraka is currently a PhD candidate in the University of British Columbia (UBC) expecting to graduate in 2011. He received his bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from Sharif University of Technology. He continued his education in Master of Science specialized in Structural Engineering from Sharif University of Technology. He moved to Vancouver on Sept. 2007 and started the PhD program in Structural Engineering from UBC. He is specialized in concrete structures and Earthquake Engineering.
He is a student member of various institutes and organizations such as American Concrete Institute (ACI), Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI), Structural Engineers Association of British Columbia (SEABC), and Sharif University of Technology Association (SUTA).
Majid has started his professional experiences since he was 22 in Iran Water and Power Co. (IWPCO) as a civil engineer, at the age of 24 he became a project manager related to the infrastructure structures. The scope of work included strategic planning, feasibility studies, project planning & scheduling and control project. At the moment, in addition to his PhD study, he is the Director of Technical Analysis of Solaronomics and is also working on a sustainable affordable housing project in British Columbia.

In his leisure time, he loves to do the outdoor activities in Vancouver specially playing tennis and biking.
