As a senior manager in the taxation services group, Trevor provides specialized income tax services to corporations and their shareholders.

Experience

Trevor has been with Grant Thornton since 1998 and has experience with a diverse group of clients in various industries.  Trevor assists clients with corporate tax planning, corporate reorganizations, scientific research and experimental development claims and corporate and personal tax compliance.

 

Industry Experience

Trevor’s experience includes numerous owner managed privately owned clients of all sizes.  His clients are in the manufacturing and distribution industries, franchises and retail.   Specific experiences include:

· assisted with the sale of 25% of a $30 Million dollar company to non family members

· assisted with the sale of a $35 Million dollar company to key management employees

· assisted a $150 million dollar company reorganize its corporate structure and provide for estate planning

· assisted various clients in saving tax dollars by helping them file scientific research and experimental tax credits

 

Professional Qualifications and Memberships

A Chartered Accountant (2001), Trevor received his Bachelor of Business Administration at Simon Fraser University in 1999.

Trevor has completed Part I and II of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth tax specialist course.

Trevor is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia (ICABC) and the Canadian Tax Foundation.

Senior Manager

Brent is a senior manager in the Taxation Services Line, specializing in succession and estate planning. Brent has spent the last ten years in tax full time providing tax planning advice exclusively to private company clients and their shareholders.

Brent's experience with firms in Calgary and Vancouver has included significant involvement with income tax planning and compliance services to clients in a variety of industries including real estate, retail, construction, manufacturing and oil and gas.

Brent brings his experience with corporate reorganizations, divestitures of private companies, and audit and appeal representation, as well with succession and estate planning to Grant Thornton.

Brent was a speaker at the Canadian Tax Foundation’s 2008 BC Tax Conference and has given many presentations regarding many topics including issues surrounding the sale of a business.

A Chartered Accountant (1994), Brent received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan (1991). 

Brent has also completed Parts I , II and III of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth tax course as well as Part I of the In-Depth GST course. 

Brent is a member of the BC and Alberta Institutes of Chartered Accountants as well as the Canadian Tax foundation and Canadian Petroleum Tax Society.
